Character History:
Durrendal Viskyng was born onto a farm. As a young boy he helped his father and older brothers tend to the fields on the farm-ground. He was always anxious to help with manual labor and the harvesting of crops. He was also a gentlemen and had a young lover in the Norwegian village in which he lived.
One day, Durrendal had traveled to another village on the other side of a valley. When he returned, he was devastated to find that a great storm had passed through the village, destroying every with flame and wind. He ran to his lover's home only to find that she had died from asphyxiation under a supporting timber that had fallen from the intense winds. His own home was also destroyed and his family had been gruesomely killed by a fired that had started in the surrounding fields by lightning strike.
Durrendal fell into a deep despair, almost killing himself at one point, in the days to come, with a scythe from the farmhouse of his family. Just before he lost his sanity completely though, he came to a sudden realization. These were the people he loved, and they had loved him just as much. He couldn't disgrace their lives by not moving forward in life, as they would have wished with all their hearts.
Durrendal Viskyng spent the next week gathering all the people from his village and burying them under the fields that once supported his family.
On the day after completing this task, he found the fields to be covered in a deep, green carpet of luscious grass and a mound of earth with a blade resting on it in the center of the field. Durrendal took the blade in belief that it was a gift from the gods and was, forevermore, an Incarnate.
He spent the rest of his life traveling around the European world, offering his manual services whilst opposing all beings of darkness with the blade from the field and newly-found abilities. He met Yvette Mansion (see Character Bio – Madame Yvette Mansion) on one such trip and contracted her as the guardian deity of each Incarnate's homestead. He passed away at the age of 32 due to unknown reasons.

Character History:
Shiro and Kuro were born into the same family as twins. They are they only two Guardian Incarnates to be directly related by blood.
The Japanese family that the twins were born into had been fairly well-off, but had lost its fortune due to debts. As a resolution to the predicament, the head of the Usagi family, Shiro and Kuro's father, established an arranged marriage between Shiro and a young man from a rather wealthy family who ran a shipping business. Shiro did not love this man and Kuro knew that he was an abomination of a human being.
Shiro was wed to the individual in question around the age of 14, but was treated horribly. He forced her to stay indoors at all times and it was common knowledge that he had several concubines throughout the port city. Shiro longed to garden and see the sunshine, yet she never did so after her forced marriage. She died from an unknown illness and multiple severe injuries after being whipped across the back with an old chain after breaking an expensive vase. Not once did she attempt to leave her spouse or end his life or hers. She dealt with the torture and agony throughout their entire marriage. The Guardian Incarnates had chosen her as a Guardian because of her purity and potential. She practiced in secret, though died without ever truly fulfilling the duties of a Guardian.
Kuro was subject to fall to the darkness of hatred and vengeance, but decided to do otherwise. He, though not rather fond of the outdoors, constructed an elaborate garden containing a unbelievably wide variety of flowering plants. The Guardian Incarnates chose Kuro to be Awakened as the new Guardian.

Character History:

* Yvette as a a child in her original home *
Yvette Mansion was born with albinism and was rather frail and, as a result, was kept indoors by her father and mother for her own safety. As she grew older, she wondered of the outside world and grew with the anticipation of one day seeing the world. Her father and mother, in order to keep their daughter entertained and safe within the confines of their home, gathered architectural schematics and hired the most amazing artists of the time from around the world (Yvette's blood line was extremely wealthy). The most extravagant of houses was constructed around the young Yvette to keep her occupied.
One day, whilst Yvette's parents were away on a formal trip, a group of burglars broke into the Mansion house and looted all the rooms. Eventually, they came to Yvette's bedroom where she sat playing with ceramic doll from one of her parent's travels. The burglars brutally raped Yvette. They then stabbed her in the chest and left her to die on the floor of her bedrooms.
Yvette was not dead, contrary to the burglar party's belief. She was hanging on by a thread, though that thread was most definitely taut and ready to snap. In her last moments she heard the screaming of the burglars from downstairs. The screaming abruptly ended and Yvette heard footsteps outside her door.
A man walked into the bedroom. Yvette's sight was blurry, but she made out that the man was tall and muscular, but retained a slim frame. The man hurriedly pressed a cloth to Yvette's wound and told her that he had come to the Mansion's house to offer his manual services to Yvette's parents. He was unaware that they were out of town.
The man looked down at Yvette, slowly slipping from both his hands and this world. Then he asked her a question. A question that would change her life forever. He offered her a contract. He would bestow upon her immortality in a spiritual form, capable of interacting with the world, in exchange for one thing. Yvette's spirit would become the guardian deity of the homestead of all Guardian incarnates to come. She would inhabit their homestead and watch over both the house and her masters and mistresses.
Yvette accepted this offer and formed the Eternal Contract with Durrendal

Status:
She currently resides in Liam's house. He doesn't know of her existence before he is Awakened, yet feels as though a guardian angel is watching over him whenever he is home. Sometimes he hears things in other rooms and investigates only to find that no one is there, though it was truly Yvette protecting her young master.
She appears throughout the book as a child, a teenager, and a motherly figure. Most Incarnates refer to Yvette as Miss Yvette, though Ark refers to her as Madame Mansion.
